Rotifers (Rotifera, obsolete Rotatoria) are 0.1 to 0.5 millimeters (Acanthocephala up to 70 centimeters) long, multicellular animals with a genetically determined, constant number of cells (Eutelia). Movable eyelashes, the wheel organ, are located on the head. To date, around 2000 species, some of which are very different, have been described worldwide, of which around 550 occur in Germany. |
