description The Arothron mappa, also known as the Venomous Ballfish, lives in the tropical, western Indo-Pacific, from the east and South Africa to the Ryjkyj Islands, Samoa, the Ry?ky? Islands, south to New Caledonia and the coast of northeastern Australia Queensland). It is frequent among the Seychelles, but only sporadically in the rest of its territory. It is always close to a hiding place, especially in clear lagoons and protected outcrops near the coast. The coloring of the map ballfish consists of a pattern of tangled black lines that run radially to the eye. The basic color is whitish, yellow or greenish, and between the chest fins often black. The fish are 65 cm long. The skin is scaly and covered with small spines.
