description The flag butterflyfish (Chaetodon auriga) is a species of the butterflyfish family. Chaetodon auriga lives in 1 to 10 meters water depth. The flag butterfly fish from the Red Sea lacks Augenfleck.Chaetodon auriga feeds in the sea of stony and soft coral polyps, bristle worms, algae, small crustaceans and snails. Helmut Strutz: Chaetodon auriga counts the well-preserved butterfly fish. Although this type also u.a. nourished by coral polyps, she seems to be coping well with substitute food. In a reef aquarium you should only put the fish if you have to fight with a glass rose plague.
In the Red Sea, the subspecies C. auriga auriga is found, which lacks the black spot in the dorsal.

Is on the Red List of Endangered Animals!
